Dark shadows once quiet
whisper
come with me
Tempting me
with safe corners
in darkened rooms
Shadows playing on the wind
then falling
deep into silence
tempting me to follow
I learned long ago
to listen to the shadows
to feel the yin
to acknowledge the damp, deep cold
I’ll settle in
with the softest of down
and multi-layers of love
until the whispering dark shadows
are quiet once again

The shadows like to play
with our mind and feelings
it isn’t easy to overcome
to lift the load one’s bearing.
Can seem dark & strong
we don’t know how to win
inside our mind and souls
shadows want to break-in.
There’s a way to fight & cope
for shadows to become thin
if you know how to turn on
the light that you have been.

This reminds me of the way that curling up really tight in a blanket feels. Like a cozy cocoon. #ActuallyAutistic

this is so very beautiful Alexis. I remember a time when shadows scared me to the point i didn’t want to be outside at night………it was the fear of what could be……….it took a long time to work through that and your words describe some of my feelings perfectly.
