Who is that woman sitting in the dark?
A mom, wife, friend
She is a survivor.
A reader, writer, hiker, dreamer
She is struggling.
A hopeful, helpful, optimistic. compassionate light
She is too weary to turn on the lights
or care about the monsters in her dreams.
A woman who works tirelessly to embrace her life
live in the truth, recognize joy.
Where did she go?
That’s her, over there, sitting in the dark.
Waiting…just waiting for the light of dawn.
Thank you for reading my books: If I Could Tell You How It Feels, and Untangled, A Story of Resilience, Courage, and Triumph

Sometimes, when it’s too dark inside, you may still, need to get up, and go turn the lights on, instead of just, waiting passively for the light of dawn to finally come.

Thank You Daisy! Wow, I did not expect that, thank you! I’m notoriously awful at follow through on award nominations, but I appreciate this more than I can tell you. Wow, this gesture did wonders for me this morning. Lots of love to you! xx

You already ARE a role model. You have written that fantastic book, you did all that painful therapeutic work, you survived all the horror of your traumatic experiences. If you didn’t feel shit sometimes, especially leading up to the difficult holiday season, I’d think THAT was strange! People maybe do expect you to always post material that is “inspiring” because that is what you typically do, but no one can maintain that. It’s exhausting, and too much pressure for one person. If anyone runs the other way, they need to be examining themselves and their attitudes, but I’m confident they won’t. People support you come rain or shine, unconditionally (as it should be). PTSD is a horrible mental health disorder to live with. I feel defeated by my past myself at the moment, so fully understand the difficult place you’re in. I’m glad Lady Gaga has been speaking out on life with PTSD, after sexual assault. The general public just don’t understand what we’re up against, but your particular story, and mine are in a whole different niche. I’d be blogging on a more lonely journey, if it wasn’t for you. Ritual abuse survivors are heroes. I only learned I was one of those when I came across you! I marvelled at you, and your immense strength, then realised I had to apply that same admiration to myself! ๐๐๐ช๐๐๐๐๐๐โค You’re brilliant in my eues, whatever your mood. I hope people will support you while you ride this out. I certainly will ๐๐๐

Thank You…You are definitely my inspiration. How can I also work to destigmatise PTSD if I never admit down times. Always that fear that people will run the other way. So thank you for your support and hugs of solidarity and thank you for inspiring me. ๐๐๐ปโค๏ธ

๐ข I’m sorry to hear you’re suffering hun, but glad that you are offloading your depressed feelings on your blog, so we can support you for a change. You don’t have to be a super heroin. Survivors admit when they’re feeling shitty, with no shame. Sending huge hugs of solidarity. ๐๐๐ I feel very similar myself-pants isn’t it ๐๐ฅLove you loads my friend ๐
